It also can be traced back to the functioning of art works in a not-westernizedStudents（９thJAWS）の会議名で行われた「第九回日本美術史に関する大学院生会議」は、昭和62年に第一回が東京大学を当番機関として開催された。以後、第二回を昭和63年に米国（ロサンゼルス・心遠館財団）で、第三回を平成２年に日本（上智大学）、第四回を平成４年に米国（コロンビア大学）、第五回を平成８年に日本（学習院大学）で、第六回を平成10年に米国（プリンストン大学）、第七回を平成14年に日本（慶応義塾大学）でと、過去７回が日米交互に開催された。当初は、日米の大学院間での大②「第九回日本美術史研究に関する大学院生会議」期 間：2007年11月30日〜12月11日場 所：アメリカ合衆国報 告 者：神戸大学 文学部 教授 百 橋 明 穂この度、「The Ninth International Workshop on Japanese Art History for Graduate学院生の交流を目指していたが、第五回からは、米国のみならず、ヨーロッパ、アジア、オセアニア地区などの大学院からも参加者を募り、日本の大学院生とのより積極的な研究交流の場とすることに努めた。そして第八回目が、開催地を初めてヨーロッパに移し、平成18年にセインズベリー日本藝術研究所を当番機関として開催された。この間の会議の開催に当たっては、鹿島美術財団から多大な援助を頂いた。また、会議の参加者の多くは、日米英の他、国内外の教育研究機関において、中堅、少壮の研究者として活躍しており、大きな成果を上げている。この度のJAWSも、貴財団からの援助を受け、米国・シアトル美術館及び神戸大学を当番機関として、平成19年11月30日から12月11日の12日間にわたって開催された。シアトル美術館をはじめとする北米西部での開催は、第二回目以来である。
