本章に収録した鎌倉・室町時代以降の水墨画は、まず落款、印章、紙中極等によって伝承作者名を特定できるもの(1〜48番)と、伝承作者名のないもの(49〜79番)とに大別した。伝承作者名のあるものは作者の大まかな時代、流派の順に、伝承作者名のないものは道釈(49〜61番)、人物(62, 63番)、山水(64〜71番)、花鳥(72〜76番)、その他(77〜79番)の順に配列した。ただし、箱書等にのみ伝承作者名のある場合には採用しなかったものもあるので、『解説□』の[その他]の項を参照されたい。また、江戸時代の逸伝画家は、伝承作者名のないものに含めた。This section includes ink paintings that have been considered historically to date from the Kamakura through the Muromachi periods.The paintings are divided into two groups: those that are attributed to specific artists (Nos. 1−48) by signature, seal or kiwame (accompanying authentication certificates and later authentication inscriptions written directly on the painting) and those for which the artist is unknown (Nos. 49−79).The attributed works are arranged by period and school as follows:Early ink painting and Daitoku-ji school: Kaō, Yoshimochi, Sōtan, Bunsei (可翁、義持、宗湛、文清)Nos. 1−6 Nos. 7−15 Ami school: Geiami, Sōami, Geiai, Tan'an, Zean (芸阿弥、相阿弥、芸愛、単庵、是庵)Nos. 16−19 Kei school: Shōkei, Keiboku (祥啓、啓牧)Nos. 20−39 Sesshū school: Sesshū, Shūgetsu, Shūkō, Shūtoku, Yōgetsu, Unkei, Tōzen, Tōgei, Yōfu(雪舟、秋月、周耕、周徳、楊月、雲渓、等禅、等芸、楊富)Nos. 40−43 Shikibu, Zōsan, Kantei, Rikō (式部、蔵三、鑑貞、利光)Nos. 44−48 Toki Tōbun, Yamada Dōan (土岐洞文、山田道安)Anonymous paintings are arranged by iconography as follows:Buddhist and Daoist subjects, dōshaku (Nos. 49−61)(Nos. 62−63)Figures, jinbutsu (Nos. 64−71)Landscape, sansui (Nos. 72−76)Bird-and-flower, kachō (Nos. 77−79)Others Attributions that have been made solely through box inscriptions or other related materials have not been adopted.
